Gambling Is an Addiction

There is no doubt that gambling is an addiction. Study after study has shown this. One of the devastating aspects of a gambling addiction is that the condition can literally destroy careers, families and even lives.
As you know from my blogs, I tend to write about sports every now and then--the relationship between sports and health can be fascinating.
Today is the twentieth anniversary of baseball banning Pete Rose for betting on games he managed. This is clearly a violation of rules, but Pete Rose has paid his price--a far greater price than Barry Bonds, Rafael Palmero, Sammy Sosa and David Ortiz.
Considering the knowledge we now have about gambling and the fact that Bud Selig has turned his back on the steroid issue. Why not give the all time hit leader a second chance.
